About our Facility

Highland Healthcare and Rehabilitation is a skilled nursing facility nestled in the rolling hills of Northeast Kansas. Located a short distance from Atchison, Kansas, and St Joseph, Missouri, Highland offers a unique and homelike atmosphere and experience to its residents. We offer 24-hour licensed professional nursing care to individuals recently disabled by illness or injury as well as those who are seeking long-term care.

  

Short-term Services - 
If you are seeking short-term medical and/or rehabilitative services, we will focus our efforts working closely with you and your family on achieving the most successful functional outcomes so that you can return home as quickly as possible. A dedicated team of healthcare professionals will develop an individualized care plan that is designed to address your specific needs. Supporting the nursing team is a group of licensed therapists who provide physical, occupational and speech therapies for patients recovering from major surgery, stroke, neurological and orthopedic conditions and other illnesses, injuries and disabilities. We are guided by the principle that quality healthcare is best achieved when we work together.
Long-term Care Services - 
Our long-term care units are designed for individuals who need 24-hour nursing care and may be chronically ill, frail or experiencing a very slow recovery from an illness or injury. We enjoy a 13-bed secure dementia care unit for those in need. Our units are private and semi-private accommodations to decorate as you desire making a comfortable homelike atmosphere. For the caregiver we offer respite or vacation care that allows families an opportunity to take a brief break from the demands of caring for a loved one round-the-clock.

We accept Medicare, Medicaid, managed care insurance, Veterans Administration, and private pay.
